What skills do you need to become a growth hacker?

The ideal growth hacker is what I call a holistic marketer. A bit of everything, not in a “generalist” way but in a “multi-specialist” way. So, a growth hacker knows a bit about email marketing, social media, SEO, PPC, and more.

But, that said, the one skill that you need to become a growth hacker is not a hard skill. It’s a soft one and in particular it’s: Resilience

A growth hacker tests, analyzes, measures, and adjusts. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties…

There are many cases where founders ask me to grow their web or mobile apps when those are not ready-to-grow yet.
- What does ready-to-grow mean?
- It means that they have implemented in their products all the procedures or metrics that will allow a growth hacker to define the proper tactics and tackle any growth issues.

Let’s take a step back and start from the beginning.

In the lifecycle of every web app there are different stages (very often they are visualised as a funnel): 1 — User Acquisition (or top of the funnel) is when users engage with your brand, meaning that they subscribe to your app or…

It’s not easy to put together the 10 tips that work for me managing various teams. I tried to create a small list though. Enjoy!

The wall of Managerial Tips! (Concept from rising star tv-show)

#1 Share Information

Communicate the news that you can, so minds don’t wander

#2 Say Thanks

People want to feel appreciated! A simple thank-you note doesn’t cost a thing and it makes a huge difference

#3 Empower through delegation

We know no one can do it as well as you can, BUT you need to delegate to give yourself time to complete tasks more appropriate for your level.

#4 Set small milestones

If you can’t match last year’s numbers…

When one starts a business, she desires to grow it to its maximum. Growth has a different meaning, depending on the company’s goal.

This is something that needs to be defined A$AP.

Then, it’s chaos. Is it possible, from such a high-level goal, to come down to a set of tactics to achieve that?

This is exactly why you need a growth plan. Don’t you know how to craft one?

We have your back! I know that this is not as easy, as most publications want you to believe, but trust me; whatever you do, success comes down to being…

Well, I keep writing every day (or almost every day) and people keep asking me about how that is possible given the tight plan of my working days (~20 hours of intensive and thoughtful work per day)

Out of my daily routine, I keep only 2 things for myself: a) One hour of Personal Training and b) Two hours of content creation

The real question is not how but why.

First of all, because I love leaving things behind. That can happen only by doing the job I do (growing customers), by teaching and by writing. Well, I do all three of them.

My mom would add: The…

The tip of the iceberg

Recently, I’ve been asked to compose a syllabus for a soon-to-be-announced Growth Hacking course that will take place in many exotic countries.

A syllabus is a document that outlines everything that will be covered in a class. The noun syllabus comes from the Late Latin word syllabus, meaning “list.” When you teach a class you may be required to make an outline of what you will expect the students to do in your class. That’s the syllabus. And for me, that was the tip of the iceberg :-)

I had three (3) clear directives:

  • We wanted it to be hands-on

Although I studied Computer Science, I’ve been involved with Digital Marketing my entire life. Around two (2) years ago, I actively entered the era of Growth Hacking, which is nothing more that the evolution of Digital Marketing. Actually, the formula is pretty straight forward:

GH = DM + HTE + CFA + Implementation + KPIs

Or

Growth Hacking = Digital Marketing + Agile (High Tempo Experimentation) + Cross Funnel Activities + Metrics / Measurements

That’s all! No magic here.

I’m 44 years old and I’ve lived through the era of Java vs. dotnet, Apple vs. Compatibles, iPhone vs. Android, bots…
